So, You Think You Have A Drinking Problem?!
It’s been niggling at you. You suspect you have a drinking problem. Others have nudged you. Cajoled. Begged you to stop, or get help.
Now it’s time to quit the madness. Quit the booze. It’s not making you better, it’s dragging you down.
If you’ve spent any length of time being a ‘professional drinker,’ then you know what I’m talking about. You know you’re kidding yourself. You think you can handle it.
Then one day you wake up. You discover with horror when your best friend calls you in utter delight to applaud you for your antics the night before. She relays the details. You are disgusted. You’re in disbelief. Was I really that bad? Yes, you have a drinking problem.
Truly Cringe-Worthy
I did a double-dare? On the table? For how long?
As your friend prattles on and on, you sink further and further into your body, wishing she’d shut up. But you know she’s right.
Then it hits you. You know it’s time. You know it’s time to quit.
Where To Turn To With Your Drinking Problem?
When you know it’s time to do something about your drinking problem, your first step is to find help. But from where?
You know that AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) has a great reputation, but you just don’t relish the idea of having to trudge out to meetings in inclement weather. Or sit on hard chairs with perfect strangers and have to share your shame.
Look, there’s nothing at all wrong with AA, it’s a godsend for many. But it wasn’t for me. I walked in. And walked right out. Turns out I’m not that sociable.
Back then, there weren’t many online sources for recovery. And that got me thinking. I’ve easily surpassed my 20-year sober anniversary. (Kudos to me, right, but how does that help you?)
So I Got Busy …
So, I thought to myself (read: hubby suggested I do something to help others) why not share my experience(s) and help others in the process of getting well again? So A New Sober You website was born. If someone shared this post with you, simply head on to our site to read more.
Let’s get you on the road to recovery. Let’s get your drinking problem fixed. It’s never too late to get sober.
